urban has been shortlisted by the Business Charity Awards!

urban is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted by the Business Charity Awards for our life-changing #BeMoreInclusive initiative with Blueprint for All (previously known as the (Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust).

The Business Charity Awards will be recognising and rewarding the amazing work that the voluntary and not-for-profit sector and their corporate partners have done to combat the challenges faced during the pandemic, and celebrate the teams behind it.

Since 2017, urban has been supporting and fundraising for Blueprint for All; a charity that believes in a future where talent is respected and nurtured irrespective of where it comes from, where organisations recognise and realise the benefits of a diverse workforce and where our communities can come together and thrive.

Over the past 4 years, the team have participated in various challenges and events to raise money, including the Three Peaks Challenge, a 75 mile walk from our office in Portsmouth to the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust HQ in Deptford, the London Marathon, bake sales and even leg waxing; raising over £13,000 in total! In July 2020, as part of our pledge to BeMore inclusive, we wanted to take the next step and launch a programme in collaboration with Blueprint for All; a partnership which supports young people from under-represented backgrounds into architecture and helps built environment employers to access a more diverse workforce.

So far, through our #BeMoreInclusive programme, we have raised £20,600 for Blueprint for All. We achieved our Year 1 goal of raising £20,000 within 10 months and are setting our goal for Year 2 to be £50,000. Raising these funds isn’t solely down to us, so we want to say thank you to those clients who have shared our passion and vision of making the industry more inclusive and diverse, and those candidates whom we have supported through this programme and inspire us daily.

“We truly believe that the work of our #BeMoreInclusive programme is making a massive difference to the architectural industry. Directly supporting young people to achieve their big break into the sector is a daily privilege and honour. To have our ongoing efforts and energy rewarded by an award nomination, really takes my team and myself to the next level. Blueprint for All is an inspiring partner, and together we are determined to make long-term positive changes to the opportunities currently available to under-represented groups within the architectural industry.”

Mark Nagle, Operations Director at urban.
