BeMore inclusive: Track record

Supporting inclusivity in the UK

As part of our commitment to BeMore inclusive, we previously delivered a partnership programme with Blueprint for All, supporting them with their high-impact programmes that inspire and enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed.

#BeMoreInclusive Programme

Our partnership programme tackled the fact that people from BAME backgrounds make up less than 7% of registered architects, something we feel needs to change. We worked with Blueprint for All on our #BeMoreInclusive programme to support young people from under-represented backgrounds into architecture and to help built environment employers access more diverse workforces.

During our partnership, we delivered change through two streams of work:

Part 1 graduates

  • urban delivered in-depth support for Part 1 graduates of Blueprint for All’s Building Futures programme, which helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and under-represented groups to study architecture, gain work experience, and qualify as architects.
  • urban provided candidates with detailed CV advice.
  • urban approached architectural firms and recommended considering #BeMoreInclusive candidates, thereby providing opportunity.
  • When a candidate was hired, urban did not take a fee, instead, each employer was asked to donate to Blueprint for All.
  • This donation provided funding to help more young people from under-represented backgrounds to enter, and stay in, architecture careers.

All levels of experience

  • urban provided our recruitment service to Blueprint for All’s architecture partners, but with a difference. For each successful placement made, urban donated £1,000 from the introduction fee to Blueprint for All.
  • This stage of the partnership applied to all architect, BIM, interior design and technical roles, at all degrees of seniority and regardless of candidate demographic.
  • During the term of our partnership, urban raised over £45,600 for Blueprint for All.

Our continued commitment

Following the success of our BeMore Inclusive programme in the UK.

we took it state-side, partnering with the IIDA in the US, and are now focused on extending the initiative throughout our US markets and beyond.

We continue to look for other ways to partner to increase equality, diversity and inclusion in the architectural industry. Get in touch today if you would like to help build a more diverse future for architecture.
