To mark the beginning of our partnership with the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, a number of our team will be participating in various fundraising activities.
“Our vision is that every person, regardless of their background, has the opportunity and support to flourish in a society that treats them with fairness and respect.”
– Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust
In collaboration with the Trust, urban hopes to brighten the future of disadvantaged young people aged 13-30, and to ensure that, regardless of their background, they are able to succeed in a career of their choice through the implementation of concentrated programmes. We will focus on inspiring young people from diverse backgrounds to pursue a career in architecture. It can typically take 5 – 7 years to become an Architect, which is why we are passionate about encouraging and supporting those that embark on this journey. Architecture is all around us; it should incorporate their voice and invite us to celebrate diversity.
To date, urban has been involved in several charity events and activities. Mark and Charlotte recently completed The London Landmarks Half Marathon; this marathon is a closed-road, central London run and the only half marathon to go through both the City of London and Westminster. The race begins on Pall Mall and finishes by Downing Street, covering all the cultural landmarks and heritage the capital has to offer, including fabulous views of Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, The Gherkin, The Shard, The Tower of London and The London Eye.
Following the half marathon, Mark will attempt the Virgin London Marathon on Friday 2nd October, before joining Charlotte and Beth on the challenging National Three Peaks Challenge from the 19th – 20th June. This event involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles and the total ascent is a whopping 10,052ft – twice as much as Yorkshire’s Three Peaks.
The three will be expected to climb…
