#BeMoreInclusive programme

As part of our commitment to BeMore inclusive, we are excited to be working with the Blueprint for All (formally known as the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust), which runs high impact programmes that inspire and enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed.

urban and Blueprint for All have partnered together to launch the #BeMoreInclusive programme. With people from BAME backgrounds making up less than 7% of registered architects, something needs to change. Therefore, we have designed the #BeMoreInclusive programme to support young people from under-represented backgrounds into architecture and to help built environment employers to access a more diverse workforce.

The #BeMoreInclusive programme will deliver change through two streams of work:

Part 1 graduates

• urban will deliver in-depth support for Part 1 graduates of Blueprint for All’s Building Futures programme, which helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and under-represented groups to study architecture, gain work experience and qualify as architects.
• urban will give candidates detailed CV advice and interview preparation.
• urban will approach architectural firms and recommend considering #BeMoreInclusive candidates, thereby providing opportunity.
• When a candidate is hired, urban will not take a fee but the employer will be asked to donate to Blueprint for All.
• This donation will provide funding to help more young people from under-represented backgrounds enter, and stay in, architecture careers.

All levels of experience

• urban will provide their comprehensive recruitment service to Blueprint for All’s architecture partners, but with a difference. For each successful placement made, urban will donate £1,000 from the introduction fee to Blueprint for All.
• This stage of the partnership will apply to all architect, BIM, interior design and technical roles, at all degrees of seniority and regardless of candidate demographic.

Our goal was to raise over £20,000 for Blueprint for All in the first 12 months of the partnership. We are delighted to announce that we have we have successfully achieved our Year 1 target in just 10 months!
